The Substitute For Hard Work

There isn’t one.  Sorry.  I’m the same way.  I want to figure out some principle or shortcut to skip some of the hard work that’s necessary to be who I’d like to be.  This is true in my marriage, my relationships with my kids, my career, physical fitness and everything else that I’ll ever aspire to be great in.
If you’re reading this and you’re thinking, “Well, yeah.  Of course.  Everyone knows this. Why even write about it?”, you’re forgetting that you struggle with this too.  I’m writing this to remind you that the struggle is worth the pain.  The hard work you’re putting in now will pay off for you later, both in ways you might expect and ways you've never imagined.
It doesn't get easier, you just get stronger.  Keep up the good (hard) work.

I agree however when you start to obtain your goals the work shifts from "hard" to enjoyable .. When you enjoy it you become smarter in the approach you take and it becomes a labor of love that is shared.

I agree with your assessment, David, however, the process is cyclical, unless one stops setting goals. What do you think?

Jason as someone arriving into the so called golden years.. I believe our priorities change. The goals should have or are close to being met.. my plans for the next phase is to make myself available to share what we have learned. This is the enjoyable part that gets shared..IMHO

I agree, again. I would just say your plans to make yourself available and share what you've learned are goals. I wold call that leaving a legacy, which may be the most meaningful goal of all the goals you've set in your life. Does that seem like it resonates with you?

I see what you are saying.. I guess my definition of goal differs a little.. like you point out to reach the crest of what is on your charter is an on going effort that is truly measured by the effort you invest.. sharing the harvest to me should be the physical easy part..But I see this from my Christian heart .. for many maybe more of a trial..

Maybe we just look at it a little differently :) No right or wrong interpretation, I think.
